HOW TO JOIN

Here's everything you need to know about becoming part of the team.

When should you join?

The start of the school year is best, but new members are welcome anytime. 

Not sure what to expect?

Come to a few practices Wednesdays after school at 3:30 in the Cafeteria to
see if fencing is your thing before committing.

Eligibility

​​In order to participate in fencing at Lassiter each season, students must complete:

1. Academic Eligibility: Just like sanctioned sports, you must meet Lassiter's academic standards to participate.

2. Paperwork and Physical: 

 

Practice​

Where:   Lassiter Cafeteria

When:    Wednesdays, 3:30 to 5:30 PM, starting mid August until February break.

               Cleanup takes a few minutes, so plan on being picked up shortly after 5:30.

Tournaments
  • Georgia High School Fencing League (GHSFL) tournaments are hosted by neighboring high school once or twice a month (September through February). Participation is encouraged but not required.

  • Tournaments are on Saturdays from early morning to late afternoon.

  • Want to aim higher? Compete in USA Fencing tournaments in the Atlanta area -- and national as you advance!

Additional Practice
  • Keep sharpening your skills at home.

  • Consider outside lessons or joining a private club for extra practice and guidance.

Club Dues
  • The dues for the 2026-2027 school year are $425.

  • The fee includes our annual registration and insurance fees, tournaments, coaching, referees, and miscellaneous operating costs.

  • Payments must be made by Friday, August 28, 2026.

    • Payment can be made online here.

    • Checks should be made payable to Lassiter Trojan Fencing Booster Club and delivered to Lauren Hood, Booster President, at practice. Email lassiterfencingteam@gmail.com to coordinate.

Personal Equipment
  • You'll need your gear (around $275 - $295 for new items).

  • Consider buying used equipment, often for about half the price!

  • Talk to the coaches or check out the equipment recommendation for more details on your needed gear.
